First I remove all the paint so that the extent of corrosion can be observed.
-
Then I will use techniques such as localised sandblasting and abrasive wheels to remove the rust.
-
After that I apply a anti rust acid which converts the iron oxide (killing the rust).
-
Then I use a phosphate process which deoxidises the metal surface, this replaces the manufacturer’s coating.
-
Then I use an etch primer which bonds to the surface and includes anti-rust agents as well.
The key to any body restoration is proper preparation, without this rust will definitely return.
I use Zintec for fabrication, which is a weld-able zinc-coated mild steel.
